The Batman Fan Plans on Skipping Birth of His Child to Avoid Spoilers

One Batman fan might be a bit too eager to see Matt Reeves' upcoming film, as they're planning on missing the birth of their child to see it.

A fan of The Batman makes waves on social media after his wife reveals he's planning on missing the birth of their child to see the DC film. 2022 promises to be full of thrilling movies, and one of the biggest is set to debut in just a couple weeks. Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman is the latest movie centered on the iconic Caped Crusader. It stars Robert Pattinson as a tortured Bruce Wayne entering his second year as Gotham's vigilante. As he works to rid the city of crime, a masked killer (Paul Dano's the Riddler) begins targeting members of Gotham's elite and engaging Batman in some twisted games.

The Batman also stars Zoƫ Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, John Turturro, and Jeffrey Wright. It was originally slated to premiere in June 2021, but the coronavirus pandemic pushed it back. Though that came as quite a blow for fans, it has gone a long way in adding extra hype. The Batman was already eagerly anticipated from the very moment it was announced with Ben Affleck at the helm in 2014, and anticipation only rose when Reeves and Pattinson began unveiling their vision.

For some people, though, it seems the hype has gone too far. A recent post in Reddit's popular "Am I The Asshole" thread has gone viral as people react in shock to how desperate one person is to see The Batman on opening day. As shared by PsychologicalPut3351, The Batman releases on the due date for her baby, and rather than postponing when he goes to see the movie, her husband intends to see the film on that day even if the baby does arrive then. "He says it is important to see the movie the first day because of spoilers and that, even I end up having the baby that day while he is watching the movie, at worst he would arrived a few hours late and is not such a big deal," she wrote. Needless to say, most of Reddit has declared the husband to truly be the one in the wrong. On one hand, fear of spoilers has only risen in recent years as leaks and thoughtless posts lead to certain plot details spreading rapidly across the internet. One only has to think back to Spider-Man: No Way Home in December to recall just how quickly spoilers spread and how certain fans were desperate to avoid any mention of them. When it comes to The Batman, early box office projections suggest the movie will have the biggest opening for a Batman film yet, which means a lot of people are going to be heading online to discuss it.

At the same time, concerns over spoilers shouldn't override something as monumental as the birth of a child. It's clear this Batman fan is taking things way too far in his excitement to see the film; as many fans on Reddit pointed out, there might not even be much to spoil, seeing as Bruce Wayne's story has been covered so much. Now, Reeves has crafted what sounds like a twisty mystery, so there likely will be some surprises fans don't want to hear ahead of time. And yet, The Batman will still be around after March 4, so there's no need to panic about seeing it on opening day.
